The Role
Ordaos is seeking a Principal Scientist of Drug Development to be a part of our ongoing mission to create bespoke mini-proteins to enable ground-breaking therapeutics. This new position will play a key role in the pursuit of our mission by leading the management of Ordaos internal asset programs as well as external drug development projects with Ordaos partners. This is a hybrid role in New York City (expected ~2-3 days a week in-office).
What You’ll Do
- Act as project manager and strategist on Ordaos internal and external drug discovery and development projects
- Plan and manage the execution of our drug discovery strategy
- Coordinate internal efforts and timelines with external partnerships
- Actively contribute toward strategic planning of in silico protein design
- Work in multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams on protein therapeutics design and come up with the most effective approach to meet the demands of biologic development
- Work within both the Ordaos wet lab and our AI/ML pipelines
- Deliver within internal deadlines and partnership project deadlines
- Effectively document, track and communicate scientific findings and recommendations within cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- PhD in protein biochemistry, protein engineering, pharmacology, or cell biology related field with at least 3 years of work experience outside academia
- Extensive experience protein drug discovery and development
- Extensive experience in managing external collaborations
- Experience in protein engineering
- Experience in animal studies
- Sound understanding of biophysical and biochemical methods for protein characterizations
- An innovator with track record in molecular design of biologics, of creative and proactive approach to problem solving, and strong analytical skills.
- Track record of scientific accomplishments demonstrated through publications in highly regarded journals and/or intellectual property generation.
- Zeal for stepping out of the box and a collaborative spirit with the demonstration of successful implementation of new ideas with calculated risk-taking. Abilities to lead by influence and communicate across teams with diverse backgrounds.
- Ability and desire to work in an interdisciplinary scientific team and the desire to learn new techniques
- Strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
- A minimum of 5 years of industry experience in biologics drug development is preferred
- Experience in working with computational biologists, AI/ML scientists, and software engineers
- Experience in IND-enabling studies
Targeted annual base salary:
- $140k-$180k
